ABOUT US NETWORK ACTIVITIES

Once per year, the Twin Cities Privacy Network hosts an all-day offsite where TCPN members spend time together in a relaxed setting trading notes about the coming year's priorities and learning from topical experts. At the retreat, the International Association of Privacy Professionals typically has proctored the exam for the Certified Information Privacy Professionals designation.

The 2009 retreat will be held at Travelers headquarters building at 385 Washington Street, Saint Paul, MN 55102. Payment for the retreat must be arranged ahead of time -- no registrations will be accepted the day of the event. Attendance is by invitation only, and is generally restricted to corporate leaders and their staff. If you know of someone who would like to attend, contact us.

Earn 6 CPE credits - For those who are current members of the International Association of Privacy Professions (IAPP) and hold the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) credential, you can earn 6 CPE credits toward keeping your certification current (10 CPEs are required annually). Certificates of attendance will be made available at the Retreat to include with your CPE application form (available from the IAPP here).

NEW ADDITION FOR 2009: PRIVACY TRAINING & CERTIFICATION DAY - FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2009

The TCPN is dedicated to building the privacy profession in the Twin Cities and surrounding area.  To that end, TCPN will be taking a greater role in facilitating career development in 2009.  As a first step, we'll be offering a day of training sessions for general employees, employees in data-intensive positions, auditors, and privacy staff.

In addition, the IAPP will again be administering the CIPP exam the day after the Retreat. For more information e-mail Peter Kosmala at the IAPP. Exam candidates will be able to take the Certification Foundation exam and one module of their choice – CIPP, CIPP/G, CIPP/C or CIPP/IT.  For more information about the CIPP certification program, including course outlines and training materials, please visit the IAPP website.  To register, visit the IAPP Community Portal.   PLEASE NOTE: Membership in the IAPP is a requirement to take any of our certification exams. See here for a detailed schedule.
